I have heard that yes, but it has never happened to me. The only two causes of my cruise failing was a faulty brake pedal switch and now the break pressure switch.

^^^^ That's not as silly as it sounds, and is worth a check.

Blown brake lt globes won't affect it - a blown brake light fuse will.Mast cyl switch: pull the plug, short the plug sockets together, if cruise engages, replace the switch. Brake pedal switch: Disconnect the plug, if cruise now engages, replace the switch. During this one, be aware you won't have brake lights. Be also careful as you may need to use the 'coast' or 'off' switches to disengage cruise while testing this.
