Have you looked to see if the bleed nipple is blocked?
If your brakes have not been serviced regularly, the nipple can block with brake dust and that s**t is like a plug. Completly stops any chance of bleeding.

I suggest, unscrew the nipple from one caliper, take it to a good light source, and get some of the missus sewing gear, you will need some pins or neddles, just dig the stuff out and you will eventually find where the bleed hole on the side of the nipple is, make sure its all clear and tidy, reinsert and then try to bleed it.

Should have good results then. BUT ONLY IF BLOCKED.

Safest way to bleed your brakes is with 2 people,most reliable too.

Sorry to hijack the thread but my lane has had a spongy pedal ever since I rebuilt the callipers. tried bleeding the brakes but to no avail. according to the Max Ellery workshop manual, air seems to have gotten into the ABS unit and the unit must be replaced. The car has been to 3 brake shops and all of them think Max Ellery is full of s**t, but all 3 of them have not been able to bleed all the air out of the system.
