Moved the coil pack on an EF setup by putting a 6mm steel plate on top of the shock tower in passengers face if ever hitting a brick wall at 200km/h. Ahem.
Seriously... post1019123.html#p1019123 have a look at the picture there if you don't believe me. It's been a long hard road involving all sorts of problems (some of which are even car related) but I've done something like this... Bought EL XR6 engine Threw out dizzy Put in crank angle, cam angle and other EF paraphernalia Moved the coil packs (along with the little gray thing made by Bosch that works as a "suppressor" for the interference.) Have I missed something? Is there an earth somewhere that I've neglected? Do the coil packs need to be earthed to the block *very* well in order to make spark, rather than just a dubious earth through the shock tower? Could the crank angle sensor be playing up and stopping the spark (even though engine turns over fine)? Could the cam angle sensor be playing up and stopping the spark (...)? Have been searching for the last hour with no firm leads other than trying another coil pack........ Cannot seem to find sweet F.A. about the workings of these things.... |

EF mate, thanks for the thought though. Somethings creating a hold up in the works. Will go have a look in between court appearances and finding some place to live. Hopefully it's just a dry joint in the soldering. I needed to stretch the original EF engine loom to coil pack leads by a couple of inches, so chopped the other EF loom I had and soldered it in...

Will try to hear that, but over the sound of the starter cranking it's going to be hard from the drivers window. Hmmm... If injectors ain't ticking, I should try a different CRANK ANGLE SENSOR?

Check for 12v on the R-DG Wire on the 4 pin plug. Then using a LED/560ohm resistor test light, check for grounding of the ignition coil primary windings (the other 3 wires.Yellow with varoius trace colours). The wires should pulse when switched by the ecu.

Thanks man. Flat battery now and no jump start until tonight, so it's all on hold... Cheers for the input. Discovered that the three coils had a common POSITIVE (not common negative as I would have guessed) about half an hour ago more by good luck than good management!
Will try to do some proper testing when someone with another car is available to plug me in! Got it going... But battery is not going to run it... post1019595.html#p1019595 |
