Hi there..
I need a better manifold than my factory 5.0lt for my ED and was wondering what rev range the explorer manifolds are good for? I was loooking at the Edelbrock RPM 1500-6500 range but at $1200 that is out of my budget so I thought I would aska bout the explorer manifolds.. Any idea on how much to get the manifold port matched and ported a bit more? Thanks in advance |

Well, autobahn quoted $1200 with ten weeks wait or extra $100 for 3-5 delivery..
Superformance quoted $1260 within 3 days delivery.. The motor has been rebuilt by prev owner with custom crane roller cam and lumpy pistons ect but the standard manifold is holding it back as it struggles at 5000rpm.. So I was thinking the 1500-6500rpm range would be best suited for me..The car is for street use not drag..Thanks in advance.. |

I think you'll be wanting a Performer RPMII or Performer...
Performer RPM is a short runner upper I'm fairly sure, more in common with the Victor? Also I recommend firing an email direct to Rocket (who Autobarn are most likely going through) and also VPW for some pricing. They are usually pretty quick in replying.

An RPM2 is not like a Victor...the victor has much bigger ports.
A lumpy cam and lumpy pistons is not what I call a description that has any meaning. I asked VPW about some FE edelbrock heads they have listed so asked if they had any in stock and their response....."we don't sell edlebrock anymore"....my response: TAKE IT OFF YOUR f**k WEBSITE THEN! |

Here's an article on an intake comparison. It doesn't have the Edelbrock, but it shows the difference between the aftermarket and GT-40. If it's not for drags, then you're probably best going with the Explorer for a street application because it will give you much more torque, which is what you want on the street. You will barely ever go over 5500 when driving around normally. I'm pretty sure the Explorer and GT-40 are similar in performance.
http://www.musclemustangfastfords.com/t ... ndex1.html Also, if you want to get the rpm II or performer, you can get it from Summit Racing for less than $1000 to your door. That's worked out at $200 shipping. The performer would be $50 cheaper. While locally, you should be able to pick up a second hand Explorer for around $500. http://www.summitracing.com/search/Make ... 20manifold Pete, the speed shops over east don't ever seem to update their websites. I think it's Pavtek who have Dart blocks advertised for $2500 and when I called them up about one the guy laughed at me and told me thóse prices are from years ago. I asked him whether he thought it was misleading advertising, and he said that they haven't gotten around to changing it yet.

The RPM 2 is much better but only if you need it? Do you mean $1200 U.S.!?!? Faaaarrrck! Yeah Scaff, apparently false advertising is ok in their eyes!? |

The Explorer can flow approx average of 175 cfm per sq inch and the GT40 / tubular can flow an approx average of 195 cfm per sq inch with the 93 cobra intake flowing a bee's d**k more at approx 200cfm. These are all stock averages flow figures ( no porting ).

I have the Explorer and Sprint upper and lower manifolds and trying to find which would be better to install. I was going to install the Sprint upper and lower only for the ease of runner 5 with the AIT sensor. Any thoughts
