Is the task of replacing the automatic transmission fluid on an AU doable in your backyard or do we need a mechanic.
I don't have a hoist but i have car ramps. cheers

Hi my daughters au needed some tranny oil so what i did was undo the top transmission line on the radiator and poured some down the hose with a small filler tube and got it in that way and it did the trick no more problems after that

it's not a hard thing to do.
Grab a service kit a 10mm socket and ratchet and a 16mm (maybe 17mm) spanner. and drain tray with will hold more then 5L and is bigger then the auto pan. remove all the pan bolts starting at the tailshaft end and work your way around. let one end of teh pan drop down and drain most of the fluid out, then remove the last bolts. replace the filter and gasket and refit the pan. there is a filler plug on the exhaust side of the box. you'll need a drum pump or large syringe. the bottom of the fill hole is the 'full' mark. Needs to be checked HOT. |
