Throttlebody, MAF and injector size are all pretty straight forward. 70mm throttlebody is as big as you need. You could even get away with 65mm as I'm pretty sure XH5LWEPN got over 200rwkw with one on. All you need for MAF is a 73mm job off an AU and Ford Racing 24lb/hr injectors. Depending on the cam you go with, you can leave the rockers at 1.6:1 or change them out to 1.72:1. I have the Trick Flow stage 1 with 1.72:1 ratio rockers.

If its just a mild 5L then you wouldn't need anything special like forged pistons.
Actually for 6 gorillas, just go aftermarket heads and go on from there.

How old is your motor? I've got 220,000 on the clock and she's still going strong. Unless you plan on big things, then you may as well just leave the bottom end be for now. spend the money up top where you'll get enough power, but won't break anything down bottom

Hey 66 coupe, since you've been there and done that, can you scan my build and let me know if I've missed anything important. Being a positive displacement blower, the rev limiter will be set at 5.5k hence I've not uprated the rods. Here are the main details, basic parts (rings, bearings t/c, o/p etc) are also done but no point in listing, all quality stuff

- std bore 5.0 block
- DSS racing (aka FMS) girdle & windage tray
- arp main studs
- stock rods
- trw forged pistons
- moly rings with end gap set to 24 thou
- 351W D8 heads (69cc) with large valves and over 50 hours porting
- custom hydraulic roller cam grind (my profile) 282/295/224/232/114
- roller rockers
- arp head studs
- 650DP modified for external power valve reference (also have 750DP)
- MSD 6BTM
- Pulleys are set to make about 9lbs boost according to the calculations

I'm just waiting on the valve springs/retainers/locks to come from USA and I can finish the build. It will run through a C4 with 2.5k stall converter.

cheers

is the dss girdle and windage tray alloy or tool steel?
and dude dont scimp pay the $500 bucks and get forged h beams?
its like getting thejelly donut without the jelly ie dont do all this hard work to be let down by the dogy stock rods.....they suck with boost sorry to hijack the thread just had to say it!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The top end kit cost around US$2500. The throttle body, injectors, installation and tune on top of that.

I'm actually pretty keen to get my other 5L on a dyno.
Its pretty much what you've listed there except its a stock eseries cam and a little above standard compression.
with a manual behind it it should punch out a decent number, nowhere near 200.. but still respectable :P
