While on the path of fizing my EL RHF door window winder (it did but sloooooooooooowly, then stopped altogether - now fixed) I somehow messed up the locking when re-assembling everything.
The door lock /atch assembly was suggested to me...........long trip to wreckers, got another one, no real improvement. Now I think I am almost all done, except...... when replaced ext door handle and all the push-pull rods, door key was VERY hard to turn, and not spring-returning). I have removed the cylinder, (Ford want $151+GST for a kit of 2 with two keys.........and then the ignintion would be a separate kit.......yuck!) so I am have spent a few hours trying to figure how the lock cylinder spring is supposed to be attached. Anyone know and can describe, or better, got access to a picture? Michael Melbourne |

Ouch, I wonder how it got quite that grotty!
But yes, that helps a lot...........it shows how the spring should be wound, how it should be inserted, and showed me that mine got somehow bent so the little ears became hooks, and stopped the cylindewre functioning correctly. Now re-assembled, the cylinder works fine, and so apparently do all the door lock functions. Now, if I could only figure how to get the door top button to go all the way back down onto its push rod (it stcks up 10mm when locked, which I donty like.there must be some trick to it, but I can't see it!) Anyway, thanks, I am a much happier chappy now the door it all re-trimmed and functional, and I dont need to ask my wife to park behind me in the driveway again! Michael. |

With the button out, get some pointy nose pliers and pull the inards back out (not right out) of the cap. With the door locked push the button down into the hole and over the shaft, it should end up just prowd of the trim.
