ok so i have a thread about what i thought was a alternator problem. so it turns out it isnt and now im trying to find the real problem. so as i was leaving work last night my car started to die and was having trouble accelerating. so my first thought was fuel filter/pump, i called the RAA he came out and started to tap the fuel tank with a mallet. it started straight away, does that mean the fuel pump is priming properly? but also i was reading thru some older threads and found someone who was having a similiar problem and he thought it was someything to do with ECU/dizzy. is there any test i can do to try and pin point which one of these are the problem, any help on the matter is appreciated. thanks

(EDIT) ok that was the first problem but ive fitted a new TFI module and its still doing it. but instead of 20mins till it starts its 3-4 mins. could it be the dizzy or am i missing something? thanks

If it had a dizzy (TFI module) problem it will have no spark.
Next time it fails to run, pull a lead off and check for spark.

tapping the fuel tank with a mallet is an old nrma (racv) trick with commodores usually, not so much falcons but unsure, they probably use the same pump anyway. but if ur fuel pumps dead.... it's pretty much dead in my experience, that bastad tfi module had me phuked for a while, bought a cheapy off ebay and been running fine ever since. for $30 sent to my door i recall.
