Just a question because i have an EB II and i wired up the Au power button for my car once the AU Center console went in now my question is for an AU do you have to hold the button for power down? Because i get the power light once i push the button but it goes away as i let go !

So no one here who owns or knows about an AU can tell me if you's have to hold the power button down?

Of course you wouldn't have to.

Its a common mod, somebody will know. Try another power button, it sounds like it isn't latching. I'd say its wired right if it works even momentarily.

AU button does not 'latch', it is a momentary on button - the ECU does the latching part

If thats the case, a relay will be needed....and somebody who knows more about electrics... :D

We have an AU, but it has adaptive shift (XR6 VCT). It has a little Tickford badge instead of a power button...

an option to avoid all the hassle would be to buy a power/econ switch from an EAII-ED that was a column shift (i think they're still available from ford), it sits in the switch pod above your left knee where the door lock/unlock button is

Thanks alot for your help everyone espically MoffatGhia i didnt know colum shifts had power buttons but sure enough i got one from UPI and best part of it is that there was already a loom for it ! Also i prefer the switch in the dash than on the console !
