Hi all looking at installing lpg on my 1997 5.0 Fairlane. I am looking at the sprintgas setup. Ring mixer type from what the installer tells me. They recommended this for my vehicle.
Should i look at impco as well or possibly something else? Wouldnt mind going the injected route but for this vehicle it's not really worth it. Anyone with a sprint gas system what do you think of it? Regards |

I have a sprintgas setup with a donut tank, best thing I've done to the car! hasnt missed a beat. But I'd still like gas inj too.

If the sevo has enough pressure at the pump to get over 50lt in (58lt tank) I'll get 300-330km. BP servos usually give me 55lt. Still works out cheaper to run than a mazda 6.

Still beats the 6 on torque and $ tho........Not to mention style! PS. Anyone know if mixer rings work with supercharging(raptor=)?

id have to say no as there is no feedback, hence no option to cater for the forced induction.
unless you could charge your charger with an air gas mix, but then you would want to hope to god that you dont backfire . your best bet would be an impco 225, 425 or dare i say it, gas research. id try the 225 first tho

If you treat/expect the HO equipped Windsor for what it is - a reliable,smooth cruising motor with excellent low torque - and a great sound with proper exhaust mods - You will be happy! I use between 14-16 litres Propane per 100km on the freeway, and you cant beat that...Under $7 for 100'ks of driving.

Well its done. I put a sprint gas system on the Fairlane. They did a good job on the install re tank and underbonnet components. Only thing im not happy with is the location of the change over switch. They placed it between the electric antenna and the rear demister button. I'm not to fussed but in the process they pulled the surround with a screwdriver and marked it and busted it then superglued it back together. I have asked them to source another and replace it and relocate the change over button if they fear of breaking the replacement surround.
Driveablility seems a little more responsive than petrol. Seems to run ok but i suspect my leads may need replacing. Little rough on both fuels on idle was like this prior to conversion just hadn't have the time to tackle this issue as yet. I have replaced plugs rotor button and dissy cap may do ignition coil as well for good measure to make sure all is new on the ignition side. Dont want any nasty backfires lol. Will provide an update in the next week or so in relation to lpg usage on the old girl. Regards |
