providing your car has smartlock yes the el ecu will plug straight in and run..
if you want to use the el manifold and thermo fans you just got to add a few pins+wires to the eb ecu plug....

wow so it will fit? but wont the ecu have different electric functions?? and does it also have the same connection plugs for the dash loom?

the el ecu fits into the eb loom,
all the sensors are the same, and the eb dash has no real interaction with the ecu,
the eb dash gets all its info straight from the senders not the ecu,
the only difference function wise is the el has provisions for the bbm switching and thermofans,
it also has a slightly different fuel and timing map that is more suited to the broad band manifold. and it also has a slightly higher rev limit than the eb ecu.
but otherwise a el ecu will plug in start, runs and drive a ea,eb or ed. proving the car has smartlock or you fit a smartlock bypass..

Troyman,

If i wan't to put an EL ECU in my Fairmont do i need to get an EL fairmont ECU? Will my climate control and all that stuff work?
If i plug in the EL ECU do i have to leave the car for 1/2 an hour before i can start it?
Is there a slight increase in power if i use it and what model EL ECU is best for my EB mont?

Thanks and sorry to Lead foot for jumping in asking questions as im curious as well.

with the fairmont im pretty sure the climate control will still work through the eb bcm.
the only thing that wont be correct is the trip computer but there is a way around that.
you can plug the ecu in and start it straight away. you only need to do that if you change the smartlock module...
there is a slight improvement in power. even more if you do the broad band manifold conversion..
a little trick is get a el ghia ecu 6djb it has the tickford xr6 timing and fuel maps.

The ECU's are slightly different, in that the auto maps in a Manual ECU are not used, and the idle controls are different.

However, many of us, myself included, are using an Auto ECU with a Manual Transmission, and are using resistors to trick the auto ECU into believing the auto is still there.
