Things have changed? or it was a 3spd thing.. My EA GL had a auto trans dip stick in the engine bay, and you filled it down that?

Ford stopped putting dipsticks on the auto's after the EF. There is 2 bungs on the side of the gearbox, lower one to drain the fluid and the top one to fill it. Fill it until its level with the top bung. Last time I filled an auto it was a two person job. Using a funnel and a piece of hose, fed through the engine bay to the gearbox. One person pouring fluid into the funnel and the other under the car holding the hose in and keeping an eye on the level

Where did you get your info from????
It was in Feb/Mar 96 ( EF ) when Ford dropped the auto tranny dipstick and changed from ATF to Mobil 424 for the power steering oil.
The 4sp auto never had a drain plug from the factory.
There only 1 bung on the side of the auto tranny with out the dipstick.
