I got a quote from a small business mechanic for a full flush of $180
I have to supply 8.0L of the TQ95 (Castrol) + Gasket and Filter He said he'll be putting it on the machine to flush it, I'll be watching him do it, so I'll see it goes - will let you guys know this weekend. Do you reckon I got a good or bad deal?

It will cost you more than that...
So you're basically paying what Ford would charge and asking if its a good deal??? You confuse me! |

They mean your total out of pocket expense, he get's $180 in labour, plus the $105 in parts, will nearly cost you 300 bucks anyway.
Not sure if it will be that good'er job if they're only using 8L? Unless the flushing machine pumps another fluid through.. just as a substance to get rid of the old stuff... then fill the converter with the new fluid.. dunno man.. What have Ford quoted you? |

I got a quote from Ford today, here are the results:
$11 per litre of TQ95, they said you need at least 15 litres, so that's $11 x 15 = $165 + $130 for the labour of full flush (including converter) + $130 for the materials and labour of replacing the Gasket and Filter. Totaling in $425 for a full flush via Ford Private mechanic is charging $285 in total. We'll see how it goes.

You can do it with a drum pump and 20L bucket for the waste. But like has been said a number of times. 8L is not enough to properly flush the box. |
