Hey guys, i've managed to pick up a fiberglass BA Bulge and a BA Bonnet to put onto my BA XT MkII for $50!!

Just wondering if you guys could shed any light on the best way to attach the bulge? i was thinking of fiberglassing some lugs inside the bulge and bolt through the lugs into the part of the bonnet which is hidden by the bulge?

if anyone has any ideas it'd be a great help!

Also wondering what all you other B-series owners paid for your exhaust+extractors? probably be chasing something along the lines of a 2.5inch system

Also, just wondering if anyone has any photos of XR8 bonnets on BA XT's, im not sure if it would look tacky without having an XR Front end?

Photo's would be great! Thanks guys!

I put the buldge on my XH ute. Fibreglassed it on, looked good for a while. Then it cracked, as do most fibreglass on metal products- as the expansion/contraction rates of the 2 materials are different. I had it professionally re attached, once again it cracked after around 6 months. You are better trying to hunt down a complete BA bonnet with hump, or one of the 1 peice fibreglass/carbon fibre bonnets.

Same happened to the bonnet on my car, the paint has cracked almost all the way around haha. I'm just going to end up turfing it one day and putting it back to normal.

Have had me bulge for over 2 years now. Still in perfect condition..
If your scared of the paint cracking or anything,
1) get it professionaly done.
2) get a steel bulge :)

My ED has had the bulge on it for nearly 2 years and no cracking what so ever, fibreglass bulge and metal bonnet, they only crack when they are not done correctly, i have fitted nearly 200 fibreglass scoops to metal bonnets with no cracking.

Its all to do with the type of resin used, even if the your bulge has cracked it can still be fixed.

a BA bonnet with the bulge is about $1500 from ford so you are certantly doing it the cheaper way.
im lucky enough to work at a panel shop and i have a genuine bonnet with bulge off a BA but its pritty damaged, i plan to fix the bonnet skin and panelbond & spot weld it on my XF pano bonnet.

What resin is used to prevent the cracking? would you be able to post a tutorial on doing this?

The resin is vinyl estor resin but i'll be keeping how i do it close to my chest for now..
Scoops on metal bonnets are the majority of my business at the moment.
