cops see that modifications to the parcel shelf illegal as like sumone places a shelf in but isn't bolted or screwed down proberly as a hazard! For example you slam on your brakes in an accidant or sumthin, the back shelf maybe dislogged and fly staight into the back of your head. but this may be b***s**t but thats proberly how they see it.

They also may see it part of the car's frame, or as a critical part of strengting to the entire body.
Another suggestion I may be wrong but the rear sets when in normal seating position they are leaning on the parcel shelf therefore a weak parcel shelf can break and cause an injury to any passengers who are sitting in the rear.

its easy hey, all i did for mine if make some spacers out of 16mm MDF wood by cutting it out with a jigsaw and drill the holes in, sit the 6x9's on top and get the magnet in the middle of the original shelf speaker holes, then get ur template and drill up wards thru the shelf (move the speakers and spacers) then just line em up and screw em in, they dont sit too high and look good, i wrapped carpet around the outside of mine to finish them off.

Damn i should have taken pics of my setup in the XF, the install was flawless it looked absolutely awesome. Oh well. I had the parcel shelf completely re-done and that way the 6'9's were flush mounted.

Sounded absolutely awesome :P
