Is it common for the front seatbelts in a ED not to retract fast? The ones in my ED are absolute crap! They don't retract so you have to retract them by pushing them up by hand.
I've taken them apart and cleaned them but still the same.

With Seat belts, the Material can get full of gunk and after time they will have trouble retracting. You might want to get some warm soapy water and have someone pull the belt out to it's full length and clean the material then see how it goes.

This might be of help.
Recently, an autowrecker told me that the sheen on the belts wears out after a while and this increases the surface friction. Hence, the slow to no retraction. To counter it, he recommended using silicon spray on the belt surfaces. I've just tried it, and if you can put up with the silicon smell for a week, it does work. Apparently, the problem still exists in the late model cars.

I did the silicon thing when I took mine over the pits for rego.. prior to that it would leave 3 foot of seatbelt hanging out...
it worked great for about 2 months, and now it has started not retracting again.. annoying... |
