Guys, what sort of puller do I need to remove and replace the harmonic balancer? Or do they just pull off when the four bolts are removed?

Cheers, Mike

You need a harmonic balancer puller.

:)

Yeah, but what type? 3-legged, 2 threaded-rod type or what? I'm assuming the latter, which would screw into two of the four bolt holes? I don't know what size the thread in the crank is either, to mount the puller to get the new balancer back on.

Mike

I bought a cheapy $20 one that has three sets of different bolts. Did the job very easily.

Thanks guys, got the new balance in today. The only problem was one pulley bolt that refused to come out. Fixed that by hammering an old ring spanner over it and cracking it with the hammer. :)

All in all, a pretty simple job that shouldn't take more than an hour if nothing goes wrong. Car much smoother now- it was really vibrating at 1300rpm, about 60km/h in 4th. Very annoying!

Timing cover is leaking along both sides, nothing major, but hard to tell if it's just the gasket or the cover itself dissolving.

Mike
