Hey all. Hoping that you guys can assist with a question I have. About to put an AU XR6 motor into my XG XR6 ute. As I have had issues getting the AU ECU's and wiring at this time (on the way now), I was curious if I could in the short term use my current XG XR6 ECU to at least get the motor in and running. Once the AU stuff arrives I will rewire the cab using the AU system to run the engine.
At this stage, best I can come up with is that I would have to wind the base timing back a bit to prevent pinging (XG XR is 9.0:1, AU XR is 9.6:1 compression). Any advice or information you fellow blue oval legends would have, will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Troyman, cheers for the info firstly. At this stage I am looking at sticking with the log manifold. As mentioned before, once all the AU wiring and stuff arrives I will rehash the setup.
I assume that I will have to use the ED/XG's injectors and fuel reg? This car is an XR6 model that the previous owner fitted a standard EB motor into, so the car still has all the XR bits, just a standard motor. Is there any other traps/ challenges you would know of that I might want to take note of?

I'd run an EL ecu if you plan on adding a BBM at a later stage.
If not, just use your std ecu, the motors are practically the same. |
