just got an EMS 4424. I think its a version 4.2 (s/n is st42XXX)?
Anyways i also got this other module with it. I think its an igniter. It is a small bracket with three wires coming out of it. One was marked MSD GND (ground)? How do i tell if it is for 2 coils, 3 coils or 4 coils? Also what else do i need to do. Ive heard people talking bout making up tone wheels with missing teeth and so on... I want to run dizzy so are there any sensors i need to fit/make/modify? Am running it in an el v8. Want to run it piggy backed off eec5. So can i just snip the original injector wires and wire them to my stinger? Hook up air temp, coolant temp, tps to stinger? No maf as i want mafless. What bout oxy sensors, do they go to ems. I need wide band ones don i...? 1 or 2? Do they go to the wide band controller, then that goes to EMS? Map is internal so thats easy. Spark is the next unknown area for me. Do i run two 4ch igniters wasted spark? Is the one i got needed or not? Sorry for all q's but im new to the EMS game and want to tune the car myself eventually. |

hi
if the igniter has only 3 wires? it sounds like a 1 coil ignighter.. you can just cut the injector wire from the factory ecu and let the ems run the injectors. but the factory v8 eec is sequential and the 4424 is not so i guess you will need to set it up as batch fire injection.. if yours is auto the factory ecu needs certain signals to control the auto..(but not sure what) as mine is a manual.. and you can splice into the signals from the factory water temp and air temp.. you can download the temp sensor calibration files from the ems help files.. im running a ems on a 6 cyl with a dizzy using the factory set up igniting the coil.. and im running a ba 4 wire narrow band o2 sensor seems to work well..only using it for closed loop idle... you can use a narrow band or wide band 02 its up to you.. i guess it depends if you want to use your 02 for tuning or just to get a reading.. |
