I have a 1978 Ford Transit (not rusty)It is fitted with an iron head x flow 250 engine.I have fitted an electronic distributor but had remove the inlet manifold to put the cap on.Will I have to fit an alloy head to get the inlet manifold to clear the dizzy cap??Maybe the alloy head is higher!

Hey mate use the two piece dizzy cap from the xf it has the hei lead plugs and is shorter.You will need the cap,base and rotor,dont mix the parts,and leads to suit.

So it has the sticking up posts on the dizzy(male)and it still wont fit,you must have shaved the head to much

The difference is in were the ports sit in the head, the steel head has them closer to block (slightly) i have fitted electronic dizzys to customer cars before and its close but only the top the leads touch manifold.

Thank you Autofast2.I can live with them being close to the inlet manifold.Do these XF type Bosch dizzy's give any problems?I don't want to remove the inlet manifold every time some thing goes wrong.Once again thanks for the reply.

9 230 064 716 is the xe dizzy 9 230 064 723 is the xf dizzy that has the lower cap.Hope that helps.

Good, as long as there is no crap in them and they have no side to side movement,make sure the vacume advance module works,and if you can look down into the dizzy and make sure the advance springs are still connected,for best results use electronic coil and run a full 12 volts to the coil not the resisted line from the wiring harness.DO NOT USE A BALLIST RESISTOR

To Autofast2.Cheers mate you have been a great help.I have owned Fords forever and thought this would be a simple swap but after asking the question all will be fine I am sure.The reason the build GM products,is to keep D#*kHeads out of Fords.
