Hi, I have an EA T5 behind an EL 4L in an EB1.

The EA T5 has lower 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th gear ratios compared to the EB11 onwards T5.

What this means is that if you combine the EA T5 with a 3.32/3.27 diff ratio, it works out about the same as the EB11 T5 with a 3.45 diff ratio.

The only real noticeable difference in day to day driving is that reverse does not have a synchro ring. I find that putting it into a forward gear before selecting reverse stops most crunching.

I would recommend opening the box up and inspecting the gears and bearings for wear, as any second hand EA box, is well, very second hand by now.

Welcome to Fordmods, and I hope this helps.

Cheers
BenJ
