How would you convert the from these old terminals to the new one?

The old terminals have the wires clamped on by some sort of lug.

The new terminals have a screw on type arrangement

see pics below

undo the 10mm nut on the bolt, remove the 2 lugs. Put the new terminal on the battery terminal. Now place the 2 lugs over the threaded bolt and tighten down the wing nut.......

cheers............

the old lugs are connected to the "O" shaped battery clamp

i went to the shops to find a new lug, but there doesn't seem to be one that would "clamp" onto the wiring.

i've checked about 5 shops, supercheapauto, BCF, JB HiFi, d**k Smith, Repco

haven't tried coventrys or ford yet

check bonnet clearance first, IMO I wouldn't have chosen the ones with wing nuts, cause of this possiblity...

I have put "other" tpye on both mine and the missus car.

just get a screwdriver to spread the exisiting clamp off the wires and just neaten them up and place in new clamp.

by the looks of his pics he will need the eyelets because they will go straight on the thread the wingnut is on. I would only cut them off if he had the other type.

hello yes you are correct, i cannot cut it off because it connects to the eyelet

any other method?

do i need a special lug?

i found a lug at supercheapauto but there is no way the lug can clamp onto the wires....

I would just simply return the ones you brought and get these Image

but with the nut fitting not the screw type

they are the better option, and I would tin the wires with the solder for a great connection :P

How do you disconnect the wire from the eyelet?

I've tried prying it with a screwdriver, not working.

Is cutting the wire the only way?

cheers

I would just cut it off with a hacksaw or the fast way i did was use an angle grinder !
As for the material Gold is the best but expensive ! Next best thing is Copper followed by Aluminum !
