Hey guys,
I have just recently got hold of a second hand wade 1673 cam and am about to put it into my EF xr6 and am wanting to know if I need to change out my valve springs and if so what ones do I get. I have asked many people and have had many different opinions. Also how many HLA shims would I need to chuck in there?
Cheers for your help.

Also on a side note I am slowly collecting parts to do a manual conversion on my XR but being in NZ parts are few and far between so if anybody out there wants to help me out with parts and would ship them over to me (all at my cost obviously) this would be very very much appreciated.

Thanks for your time

Dan

XR6 springs should be fine with that cam.

you will need 12 shims, one for each lifter.

i just put a Crescent Motorsport Stage 3 cam in my EL thats done 275,000km, still going good after a week, so your motor should be fine.

ok cool. I forgot to add that its currently auto (hence looking for manual parts) and i Have heard stories of the ECU sh*$%ing the bed when a cam like this has been placed in, any truth to this? Im guessing ill have to re learn the ECU at the minimum, or should I just wait till its manual to chuck in the cam.

well my CMS runs fine with the standard ECU, but im not tooo sure about Wade cams. i think the 1673 is mild enough as to not trouble the ECU.
