if it is the one in your el, it is a windsor. Is this the one you are talking about, or do you have one in another car?

Really need a pic of the front to be sure, but it looks like a Clevo to me.

Definately a clevo! The fuel pump location and heads give it away!
The windsor has a alloy timing gear cover and the fuel pump is attached to it. Your engine has the fuel pump attached to the block! |

Being a Cleveland the firing order is 13786542.
You can magnaflux the block but usually if the engine was a good runner people don't bother. If it's unkown you may want to do it. |

thanks for that XR9UTE i'll see if i can get her to fire over the weekend, another question as i have never built a v8 from bottom to top how does one decide on what internal's to use??? i plan on only driving it on weekends, i come across different set ups that range from 400hp right up to 800hp o its not for the 302 its for a 351 and they are stroker set ups

Sorry bloke I switched a couple of numbers there, it's 13726548.
The stock rods and crank are good for very high hp but the question is what do you want? These days a 393 stroker kit is a great way to make a substantialy more torque and power than you otherise would have and increase the life of the engine by not having to rev the s**t out of it. If you don't want to go this way I'd use the 302 rods and a 351 crank with pistons to suit the longer rods. This will give you the 351 cubes minimum but with less rod angularity meaning less side load on the cylinder walls. |

thanks again for that, yeah i was looking at the 393 stroker kits, i would not mind hitting something over the 500hp mark, this is not something im just going to jump into it, so looking over a year to build just the engine as i have read that its all about how much your willing to spend plus some, could you tell me what this means i know the ovis, flat tops 12:1 but whats the 12:1?

That's spot on...durable high performance costs lots and cutting corners results in greater cost in the end. A mate of mine has an alloy headed 393 cleveland that makes 575hp...it cost about 20 grand. It pushes his heavy XB Fairmont to low 11's with lots of traction problems. If that's out of your price range I know of a great stock stroke combo that will get you in the 350rwhp range on std unleaded. 12:1 would be the compression ratio. |

Hi everyone,
Has anyone here put a 302 in an AU Falcon that previously had an inline 6 in it? if so, what are the big change overs? |
