Gday, we have had this EL gli in our family since new, I had it for my first car, then my sister had it, etc etc, and now it is mine again. Anyway the transmission has never been quite right, we had it rebuilt at 90000 k;s, and it was still a bit jerky from 1st to 2nd. Now it is at 220,000 k's, and it is fine when cold, but once ive been driving for 15 mins or longer, 1st to 2nd becomes really jerky and uncomfortable. All the other gears are fine.

I initially suspected that all i could do would be replace it, but considering that it only does it when its warm, is it possible that if i fit a propper transmission cooler to it, it will fix it?

Any suggestions as to the cause would be great, and if there is any fix other than a reco trans, i would love to hear it

Thanks for your help guys

Does it feel like someones run up the back of you? If so, I've got the same issue on my 97 EL XR6. I've had a browse around here and it's supposedly worth changing your fuel filter and spark plugs (If you haven't done so already).

the same thing was happening to my dads ed auto.
i dropped the trans oil in it and bought a transmission service kit for it and its running
perfect again.

you could be low on trans oil or it could be your s5 solaniod.

first thing i would do it check your oil.
then drop it and do a service on it

hope this helps
