Hey, i have a BA V8 mont and i notice that the intake on it is pretty small, i was thinking of getting two intakes cutting one in half, then cutting the middle section out of the another and glueing that section between the two halfs of the first one, making one big intake. Would this work or just be a big waste of time. I have a mate that works at a wreckers so i can get the intakes at mates rates.

Why don't you just stick on a Boss intake?

Because Boss style intakes don't fit.

All you need to do is get rid of small flat black plastic thing DIRECTLY above your throttle body and replace this with a decent rubber 90* elbow. You could even replace the rest of the plastic intake tubing with a pipe and a pod filter at the end of it, enclosed in a bluepower box. This would free what is the most restrictive part on the 3v V8 motor. They are a good motor.

i have seen on corral forums where there extend the plenum higher with thick gasket about 20mm with longer bolts...
It gave more power and torque...

Im not sure thats what he is on about, could be wrong. The phenolic spacer, is that like the one fiend sells? Because that is used for spacing the BBM away from the head to try and eliminate heat transfer to the BBM from the head.

This idea of extending the BBM higher intrigues me. Could do it with steel machined out to the profile of the BBM and use 2 gaskets, top and bottom of the plate. EBXR8380, do you have a link to the thread that this is in?

Cheers

Josh

Did you mean something like this;
http://www.bseries.com.au/cgi-bin/index ... _5.4_V8_3v

I though about it but its the $$$ I'm worried about, building a house in oct and have to fill it with all the normal house hold items aswell at furniture and that so i need the save $ for that. My cut and paste idea was a cheap easy solution for me.

do you mean in the same way as a tunnel ram is, creating the same effect by lifting the plenum up away from the motor ?

this, dunno what other mods you have already, but the regular intake mods are the first thing to do, followed by exhaust mods. messing with the stock plenum, should be reserved for after everything else has been done.

effort vs reward ratio.

This would be the first mod, i will be getting a better zorst down the track when i get more $$$. But that will be more for sound than performance, now on idel shes as quite as a mouse and u really have to put ur foot down to get the that glorious V8 sound. By the way i know that its a mont and not an XR8 and thats why its quite so u dont need to tell me, Ive been told enough times already.

Now you're talking :) . Don't forget to disconnect your earth lead on your battery for an hour or so to reset the ECU. Give it a tank of fuel and it should tune itself to make the most of it.

I made one similar one, have a look at the link.

I had to oval the pipes to get them to reduce rubbing and I have the oil breathing into the manifold!
