I recently tried to buy a oil pressure sender for my EB 5L. Ford don't sell them anymore, so I had to go aftermarket. When I spoke to the sales guy at the spare parts shop, the aftermarket was the same for EB's to EL's. I purchased an EL one and put it in. What a pain in the a*** job!!! Now my oil pressuer reads on the cluster, but very low. The first bar. Is it because of the sender or could it be the gauge on the dash?
Thanks |

Get an old style oil pressure guage ( capillary type ), fit it and see what the pressure is....thats the only way you'll know for sure.

Yes they are different.
Well they are in 6's. They give a different pressure reading.

Use one out of a EF-EL 6cyl and screw it into the brass extension bit. They are different.

To give some quantified information, the EB oil pressure gauge is 28 Ohms at low pressure and 180 Ohms at high pressure.
EF/EL are 0 Ohms (dead short) at low pressure, and 80 Ohms at high pressure so they wont work for you. Your gauge reads low because of this. A test. Say for example your oil pressure is normally 75% of gauge. 75% of 80 Ohms = 60 Ohms. 60 Ohms is 21% of your proper senser so your gauge would be reading 21% of scale (near the bottom). I think the VDO 360.013 is the unit you are after.
