hey, want to put an AU or possibly EF/L power steering pump into my ED. the pump was noisey as before but now has pretty much gone to s**t. i noticed the AU pump has a much bigger pulley so apart from changing power steeing fluid, the belt length and the fittings on the pump do i have any other issues? anyone else done a similar thing? pics?

au,ef and el use a serpentine drive belt,so to run an au pump you would have to get the pulley pressed off and an ed one pressed on,im not sure if they would align or not,but unless you do a serpentine belt conversion,id say its not really worth it

As stated by 'madeaspak', you would need to change the pulley. Other wise, convert to a serpentine belt setup.
I am using a pump off an AU on my EL engine, in my EB. Cheers BenJ

damn i totally forgot they run a v-belt . might have to swap pulleys on the pump, i guess it would be easier aka less work.

went to 2 wreckers today to check prices on an AU power steer pump. first quoted me $120 and the other after having a lengthy chat said $50. i told him my plans to press off and swap pulleys but he said he would put money on it. he also had an EBII wagon out front and i said will that grill fit my ED and he said nup, so i said much much for the bonnet and grill, he said $100 then proceeded to tell me that the bonnets werent compatible at all?
basically can anyone tell me if the input shaft on ED and AU power steer pumps are the same? maybe someones got both sitting around and a set of verniers? itll save me money if buy an au pump only to find i cant swap pulleys, short of welding it anyway.

You can get recoed PWR Steering pumps for around the $120 mark. Ring a couple of places and compare their prices, before shelling out the money on a 2nd hand unit.
