hey all can i change my fuel filter with normal spanners?and alot of ppl say the fuel line bolts are that tight sum times u simply can get the filter of?and to de pressurize the system do u simple take out the fuel pump fuse from the box in the enginge bay?i never done a fuel filter change before lol

When you pull the fuse, start and run till it dies. Yes, use a 14mm Flare-nut spanner on the nut, and a 19mm spanner to hold the filter still, and if you have strong fingers, push in, then pinch the fitting on the other end and pull.

Fork out for a flare nut spanner, the amount of people who ruin them using normal open enders. If your going to do your own maintenance get the right tools.

i just did mine with vice grips seemed to work quite well.make sure you do them up nice and tight when ur finished
|

put the fuel filter on today started it up let it idle for bout ten mins couldnt see any leaks?
should be fine yea |

stick with Ryco filters also.
I've found valvoline/cooper and other brands all tend to be steel filters, whereas Ryco still make them out of alloy. The fuel lines and threads are alloy and when using a softer filter they seal better than the steel with LESS tightening.

A set of cheap flare or pipe spanners at Bunnings or Super Cheap isn't very expensive. I bought myself a set from Bunnings and it was one of the best purchases I've ever made. Bought it to do the fuel filter on the EB, and I've since done a number of jobs on brake lines & gas lines with them. Without damaging the nuts at all.
A very worth while investment for the home workshop! Cheers ToranaGuy
