Hi Guys
Have a problem with EB1. Recently when cranking engine after sitting overnight (10 hours) it sounds like its about to go flat battery but keeps cranking at low drained speed and then finally picks up speed and starts car. Alternator charging ok and battery has 12.8 volts prior to starting. I am thinking battery is losing its guts but can a starter motor show these symptoms?? Cheers |

yep sounds very much like the starter motor esp if the battery has 12.8V before cranking it over

i had a simular problem some years ago and it gave every indication it was a flat battery but it turned out to be a faulty starter motor
the bearing shells on the starter had worn so much the rotor was not spining freely and touching out on the stator in effect shorting out |

replaced starter motor with another one i had lying around and problem is almost gone. Guessing the replacement one is probably on its way out also. Least now i can strip the other and see whats going on
