hey guys, im in the process of waiting for my turbo-kit to be installed, iv been told that the air conditioning unit will need to be relocated or it wont work..
its a snort stage 2 kit, im still confused as to why, i don't see how it can get in the way of pipeing or anything..

so my question is, can i get around not having to get rid of the ac?? and how??

Dont be sorry

The workshop you have arranged to install it, have they done many turbo installations? Although it may seem awkward to plumb up the inter cooler piping to the throttle body there is no need to remove the air con to make this happen.

yeah look at 90% of the setups the boosted guys are running 9/10 they are running the standard manifold with pipe following the same if not similair path as the OEM intake ducting, down either thru the steel were the airbox / or directly under lights would sit to intercooler and then up to tubro etc. I honestly can't see the need to remove or move the A/C unit, Unless some one was mistaken and the meant the battery cause I can see that geting moved or relocated into boot.

Even if you didn't run an intercooler and went straight over to turbo again no reason to move the A/C etc. unless the intake plenum chamber is an aftermarket on and the throttle bodie would conflitc with the A/C, but again highly doubt it

I have even seen setups that have left the battery in the original position. that is harder to do the cooler piping but it can be done.

he'd be talking about the reciever dryer i'd guess?
not a big issue to move it, new lines, new reciever dryer and aircon regas.
i know you need to do it with EA-ED due to its position, but i've seen coolers on EF/ELs fitted where the reciever dryer wasn't moved?

i cant see how he'd be talking about the ac compressor?
you really need to clarify it with them i think.

As Steady ED said
the dryer canister is still in the way on the EF EL's it dosent have to be moved but if you dont the cooler sits alittle to the side,
bending it out of the way is a maybe but its prolly not advised

sorry about the late reply,
just clarified it and its the receiver dryer thats in the way.

might sound dumb, but is it possible to bend the pipes and relocate the receiver dryer to move it out of the way of the cooler???

i fitted the snort #2 kit to my ED and had to shift the receiver dryer to the lh guard behind the h/light. I tried bending the pipes but they cracked due to age. $250 to have pipes made up and regassed.

mount it out of the way, get a mobile hose guy around to make up the lines, take it to a/c guy to get regassed.
