the one prob with the fairmonts is the auto, sucks the power out.
for bang for your buck, go with headers and extractors.
turbo kits start at about 4k but unless your installing yourself, your looking at at least that again for install. after that theres tuning, tweaking, replacing, rebuilding and all the things that go along with putting a brand new turbo on a 12 year old car.
running a daily at 6-9psi shouldnt be too damaging, but still it NEEDS a tune to keep it alive
wade cams are a great, inexpensive way to boost power and torque (or either)
you first need to work out why you want more power, and whether its power, or torque your really after.
have the injectors been serviced?
have the spark plugs, leads been replaced?
injector leads?
there are a lot of other mods you can do for 50-100 bucks that will give you overall maybe 10-15kw, but most of all, they'll get it back to factory performance.
hope this helps....

A good start would be putting this in the right area. I don't think you said any thing about Interior Mods.

Secondly, Turbo kits start at $3000 from Snort Performence. Cams are cheaper but Some need computer Crap. Chip, Flash tune ect, ect. Extractors and headers are the same thing. They can be cheap, Mine were $120 but a decent set will cost $500 or more.
Supercharging is expencive and In my opinion, Usless compered to a turbo kit.

Good point!

Next time you start a thread think about where you are posting it!

Have you had a supercharged or turboed 4.0? How can you say a supercharger kit is usless, mate iv gone done the turbo road and trust me its not worth it, save up for a cappa supercharger kit comes with everything you need gives smooth power and is reliable my brothers had his 4 years and no problems at all, if your after decent power a set of pacemakers and performance cam will leave you disapointed

I say that because I grew up working on turbo cars and trucks so thats why I know alot more about turbo. The other reason I say turbo is because of initial cost. $3000 for a 200-250RWKW turbo kit is a heap cheaper then one of CAPA's kits.

And with turbo, you can slowly move up in power and torque levels. Better exhaust from turbo back, Turbo manifold change, better intercooler, more boost, computer, bigger turbo and so on and so forth.

With a Supercharger, How do you improve slowly with a supercharger? I'll admit, Im not to sure. But you can't just wind the boost up with a boost controlier like you can with a turbo set up.

But thats just my opinion, not others. If the topic creater would rather the ease of superchager, the thats what he should do.

Yeah done a couple turbo kits on falcons, yeah you can get 200rwkw's for 3k but its not what i call reliable smooth power to many nightmares even with a snort kit, im a qualified mechanic worked on fords for years trust me its not worth going cheap iv seen too many cars wreaked from people trying to get big hp on the cheap. If your after more kick and on a budget go the t5 conversion, i put 2 1/2 high flow exhaust, high flow cat a set of pacemakers a custom 3 inch intake and a wade 1637 cam in my EL fairmont Ghia wasn't that great was quite dissapointed, recently converted the auto to t5 would have to say it is bang for buck 0 - 100k's is alot quicker and it jumps off line my friends gen3 250kw caprice has trouble catching me now

The T5 was what I missed. That makes such a difference.
