Hey guys,
Just bought a V8 ef fairmont with the 302 windsor, and I was wondering what sort of exhaust I would look at putting on the car for peak perfomance, I have been looking at pacemaker extractors and then a 3' follow through kit. I was wondering what peices people are using and what performance they are getting. the exhaust shop down here in canberra have said that with the set up they have said would give me between 20-30 rwkw extra. is this reasonable. |

20 - 30 rwkw? That's a big call.
But in general, Pacemaker do have the PH4000 headers which are a great improvement over stock headers. Add a 2½" ( or 3" if you think bigger is better ) mandrel bent exhaust with whatever choice of muffler / resonator doesn't drone and you'll have a much nicer sound with some better seat-of-the-pants punch.

Good set of headers go 3" mandrel pipe with good resonator and your car will sound sweet as.

The system was on the car when I bought itand never had it on dyno so figures I dont know. Altho it does feel a little better under foot than a standard car of same type. To really get these things going you have look at making it breath in as well as out.

see I was looking at an explorer intake, and a 65mm tb, not sure if I should change out the standard air filter?

Bigger air intake snorkel is the cheepest start and you will feel the difference instantly.

Im guessing this is the pipe from the air filter, I did notice that is quite small when letting the air in. would you swap out teh air filter box with a pod filter, or would you swap out the pipe itself?

Unless your going with full cold air intake change the intakke pipe to the filter, taking out the air box and using a pod filter in an ef means your going to draw hotter air from the engine as the front between the head lights is full plate metal and no air flow.

Perhaps that fellow meant 20hp instead of 20kw, which is a bit more likely for just an exhaust system replacement.
