This months motor mag compared the XR6, SV6 and for some stupid reason a Liberty GT. Here are power & torque figures and speed times
XR6 195kW/391Nm 0-100km/h: 6.76 400m : 14.87@154km/h SV6 210kW/350Nm 6.46 14.62@157km/h L GT 195kW/350Nm 5.97 14.22@161km/h All 3 cars where tested on a race tracK suprisingly the XR6 was quickest at 1:46.0 sv6 was 1:48.4 liberty was 1:47.9. I believe the falcon would be quicker then the commodore even its sidi only if they used proper final drive (diff gears) what are they thinking the xr6 is ment to be a sports sedan why the hell would they use 2.73 like the dud series 1 ea's i kind of understand that but cos they where only a 3 speed but come on this is a 6 speed auto All that money holden spent on trying to get better fuel economy then the falcon was a waste if you look at average real world consuption the xr6 is 13.7 SiDi sv6 is 13.4. not much better at all. What i found most interesting is the new 325kW GTS is slower then the previus 317kW at 5.48sec 0-100, the fpv F6 must be quickest oz car at the moment very good to hear |

The 2.73 diff is used because the gears are mega short in the 6 speed box. If you had the old 3.45:1 xr ratio then the first 3 gears would be useless. It would have to be short shifted everywhere like a diesel.
So a direct injected commodore 6 is actually quicker to 100km/h and both quicker and faster down the quarter than the equivalent model falcon. Looks like the mighty I6 in N/A trim has been finally reigned in. Remember that these are the numbers that bogans look at when they buy a new car. Real world part throttle traffic driving means jack s**t to them. They only know two speeds: Flat out and stop. |

so when is ford going to bring out a DI i6?
interesting to note that a g6et will beat a GTS 325kw 0-100 |
