Hi guys,
I've got an EF with an LE93 BTR auto (dipstick possessing). Symptoms are as follows: * Reverse operates perfectly * No forward drive in D, 3, 2, until revs hit 3000 * Slight forward motion in 1 from engine idling depending on gradient, but no power like the other gears if you attempt to accelerate * Once you get moving, seems to operate correctly: D (1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-3, 3-2, 2-1). 3, 2 & 1 all select and kickdown, engine braking apparent. This all happened after accelerating perhaps a bit too hard after going into R ironically. I'm thinking either the C2 clutch pack and/or 3-4 OWC has had it. Any other thoughts? Cheers. |

What is the oil level like?
Sounds a bit like it is very low on oil, or the oil is burnt? Another option could be to replace the Inhibitor switch (the white unit on the left hand side of the gearbox that all the wires plug into) with a known working unit, and see if that makes a difference. Otherwise, I would say it is stuffed, and you are either up for a rebuild or find used one. BenJ

I've since drained the pan and have taken everything off the car to lower the transmission except the transmission itself. JT |

You sure? - BenJ's right - Sounds like fluid level. The Check procedure is very specific, and so many people assume they know it.
Low oil gives exactly those symptoms. Nigel |

Nigel My trans has a dipstick, so it's easy to see if the level is right. I have had issues with this box dropping trans fluid for a while now, but even when it's down over a litre from the correct level, it never performed like this. Slow changes into D/R from P, etc, but never 3000rpm to get it moving. Also it moves straight away in Reverse. JT |
