I have seen this before on XE and XF falcons. The cables get crap in them and get really stiff. Take the accelerator cable off at the carb, and see if it moves freely. If it doesnt, check for kinks/burns/etc, and maybe give it a good soak with CRC.
If the acc cable is Ok,check the auto kickdown cable. They are known for getting crap in them and getting stuck. Spray some CRC down it and work it a bit to free it up. Worst case, replace both cables. Good luck.

{USERNAME} wrote: yer mate auto..got no gut, good first car any other ideas Because it is an auto, they are gutless......2.39:1 first gear!!!!.....and a 2.77:1 diff.....gives it really long legs. You could try to fit an XG diff ( rear disc brake ), and have some 3.45 gears in it....change out the auto to a manual.....either BW single rail, or T5......will make a huge difference.
