i noticed my eb only had 1 rear boot strut when i bought it, i had some lying around from an ef, when i came to put it in i noticed that the one on the left hand side was different to the ones that i had, when i looked closer i noticed there was no place to position the right hand side strut on the body of the car (undee he parcel shelf in that little hole)
my question is, are these struts different, and was the eb (series 2) only fitted with one on the left hand side? i found this very strange.....

NA/NC and DA/DC Fairlanes and LTDs have twin struts.. And I would have thought that the boot lids on the Falcon would have been about as heavy as the Fairlane ones..
Maybe the Fairlanes just get the second one to make the lid easier to lift? I found that only having one doesn't support the boot but they may have been half borked..

THE EA/EB/ED all had 2 boot struts but on the ED from the 04/1993 they changed to the EF/EL type.
If I remember correctly, the bracket on one end used to have trouble with rusting, maybe yours has and fallen off? |

Pappa Smurf you are exactly right, the bracket is missing. Does this have a part number? can it be purchased from ford? its the bracket that attaches closest to the rear quarter...

Unfortunately the bracket is not serviced. The EF/EL uses the same setup as the ED, maybe a wrecker might be able to help? at least there would be less rust?
On the AU's they have a different setup but maybe you could adapt to your EB? The bracket for mounting it is available and also the Ball stud that screws into the boot lid. Of course you would have to buy NEW struts but at least there would be little or no chance of rust again? AU Strut ER F406A10B $42.50 each, bottom bracket ER F28126A R/H $30.80 and ER F28127A L/H $30.80 each. The Ball stud V 800241S36D $8.50 each. Attachment: BootSt.JPG
