pretty sure my gearbox is close to being done for. asked the local ford spares and they said 1700 to fit a reco'd gearbox (price includes the box itself thankfully). sound alright? or too much?
edit: it's an auto btw.

edit: it's an auto btw. It may be cheaper to repair yours. Take it to a Auto Transmission Specialist and get a quote.

i say if your auto box is on the way out, dont bother fixing/replacing it. get yourself a manual. from memory you should get all the bits you need for the conversion for about 2000, and from what i hear, its well worth it!
im just waiting for the excuse in my car... :S
