A 12" would theoretically be more responsive than a 15" but only poor quality 15" woofers can't keep up. A good quality 15" will do much better than a poor quality 12".

15" would have better low frequency response. It is strictly a purist only thing though. 2 12" subs work just as well if not better as they will reproduce high end bass better. (can throw faster = can do higher frequencies.)

This 15" subs are slow compared to xx" thing is crap and always has been, they are playing the same frequency range and bass is slow.
Have a look at pro audio and you find 18's running in a 2way setup being crossed over at 2500!!! It all comes down the setup and the quality of the components involved and the idea of trying to run 15's in a box that should really only hold a 10!

As said by Outlaw a 15" will respond just as well as a 12" it comes down to configuration, enclosure volume and quality of components... 12" drivers will play a range of frequencies as you go larger you unlock that ability to play lower therefore longer wavelengths or more "slow" moving frequencies...depends what you're after as some 15"s, 18" etc can still keep up with those quicker/higher frequencies whilst others cannot and the output can begin to get droney but again all based on your setup as above

I used a 12" and 15" of the same model sub in the optimal sealed enclosure for each sub. The 12" did sound more responsive to the 15" version. Both subs had the same size motor structure so it makes sense that the motor could control the weight of the 12" cone better than the 15".
Also, the 15" version could play lower, but that meant the 12" could play higher and blend better into the midbass speakers. This would have made the subbass sound more responsive too. |

had 2x12's and 1 x 15 in different boxes on different amps running at same time, tried playing around with it seeing if could get them out of beat with the 15 being bigger but it ended up sounding exactly the same anyway.
