when i move the transmission into sports mode, I am able to move up through the gears,
ie 1->2->3->4

But unable to downshift, ie from 3->2 etc etc

This is a former unmarked vicpol car - so i dont know if they have disabled this for some reason, or whether this is more likely to be a mechanical or electrical fault somewhere

any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated

The switch contacts in the shifter that control the down shifts might just need a little WD40 and a clean. If gunk and s**t falls down in there it can cause the SSS to play up.

My auto elec found the issue, the sensor/switch thing at the base of the shifter is stuffed - apparently i'm looking at $160 to fix it.
