The drivers window on the XR6 stopped working. I can operate it by connecting 12V directly to the motor wiring under the switch, so this indicates the motor and wiring are ok.
So this would mean that 12V is supplied to the switches on the pcb under the switches yes? I can't see any obvious signs of broken tracks or burnt. All other 3 windows work ok. Any suggestions? |

re trace all wires or could be your motor is on the way out

so if the reg works ok with 12 volts, i would say the switch has bad contacts. its the el in your signature yeah?. have u popped the switch button out of the actual switch and cleaned and regreased the contacts in there?

Yea, I've cleaned the switch contacts...something on the pcb must be rooted...I can't think of anything else... |

the switch contacts usually have a build up of dry grease and dirt on them, also the little spring loaded ends in the button wear out. like the one in the picture
guess if its not either of them, u will need another main switch

Give them a touch up with some fine emery paper.
Usually the up contacts are prone to crap buildup, due to arcing and high current needed for wind up. The EA-EL circuit boards are the same (notice the 87DA- in the pic). I think I have a couple of boards in my garage somewhere.

just had the same problem and its definetly the switch i just replaced mine

Try cleaning the switches it's prolly all the gunk on the pins as mentioned before buying another switch. Save your $'s.
Edit: What i did with mine cleaned all the insides even cleaned out all the grease thats come from factory with all the build ups from then. The put a bit of new grease a little bit not too much then put it back together again. The pic above will give you a better idea where you should be putting bit of grease (on those silver metal pins).

trust me, I've cleaned them several times...I'm an electronics tech so I knew what to do there....
I finally solved it today at work...found some dry joints under the microscope, so I fixed them up and it's working fine now. So definitely NOT the switches

A dry solder joint...where the solder hasn't bonded properly between the board and component, usually comes from time of manufacture, vibration or changes in temperature.
here's an image pulled from Google images, the pin second from the left has a dry joint....
