Ok so today I got a pod filter. Just took off the stock box and put the pod in the front corner where the box should be.
Now it does get pretty hot in the bay. I was thinking about making a sort of box thing out of 1.2mmstainless.
Now the box wouldn't be airtight. But would be getting cool air from the wheel arch.
So what im wondering is would the box help a bit or would a simple aftermarket heatshield work the same.
Has noticeabley more high endtorque but im not sure about the bottem end.

Yes enclosing the pod will be beneficial every degree in temp above what it needs to be robs power. I have toyed with the idea of enclosing the open pod but decided it was too much work, instead I fitted the pod inside the air box and cut a 90mm hole through the bottom of the air box and the metal directly underneath into the area in front of the wheel arch then fitted a piece of 90mm storm water pipe between the two surfaces to draw in the fresh air, noticed a big improvement.

The box im hoping to make up will sit overthe pod and have cool air comming in from the hole behind the frontindicator that goes to the wheel well. There is some plastic there but ill just pull it off.
Hopefully it'll come together nicly.

The area behind the head light is a good place to get positive air, the good enclosed pods I have seen have used metal sheet like 1.2mm stainless and 2 to 3mm aluminium. When I looked at doing this I would have run a straight sheet off the inner chassis rail behind the head light back to where the inner guard starts then another straight sheet across to the edge of the of the engine bay, then work out a nice close fit between the bonnet lining and the pod enclosure, you could run a interior body trim over the top of the sheet metal to soften the edge and seal better with the hood lining.

Well I decided to use .6mm aluminium.
Came together easy. Took all of 2 hours. I ended up putting a hole ontop and running the stock snorkle.
So freash air from there and the hole behing the indicator.
It looks good. I could mms you a pic if you wanted.

Only thin is the .6 is to thin I think.
Is there some kind of heat resistant stuff I could put inside to keep it cooler in there.

Also the car seems to get hotter when I give it some now. Is that just because it has more air so It can run harder.
It goes down after and sits normal on the highway and maybe half a letter higher in traffic.
