Ok the things to do are as follows
Make a baffle out opf 15mm MDF that seals the boot from the cabin. Mount both subs to that firing into the car and buiild the box behind that. If it is sealed properly you will not loose bass into the boot. Rear loading of subs works well in hatchbacks and liftbacks but not in sedans and tests reflect this. Both subs shoul,d be in the sma eenclosure so if 35litres is the reccomended encolsure size then double that and thats the size you should have. If they are in the same box you will get the coupling effect and this can produce another 3db. Cardboard first is an excellent way to do it and i always use this method.

This is a similar setup to what I would like. I have been told that leaving your seats up with this setup can reduce the life of your subs because of the increased pressure in front of the cones.
Is this correct? If so, would it be hard to build the box back just a little bit, say 10cm and then build the sides and top with extra bits so the subs still "seal" into the cabin thru the seats? Or is this just a waste of time / money / bootspace? |

Or is this just a waste of time / money / bootspace? wtf are they giving you mackay boys to smoke these days???? find out whoever told you that, and tell him he's a f**k moron provided the subs have sufficient room between the cone/surround and the back of the seat, there's no problem, something like 20-30mm will be fine

You know, I kinda thought that might be s**t. We have some wankers in our stores here. We only have Autobarn, Strathfield and the top-end StereoSales (The only alpine place here).
Well, I guess I'll go ahead with the box up against the back of the seat! Let's just hope the Amp I'm waiting for is as powerful as what it says it is. |
