Hi,
I got a hold of a Reverse Sensor kit which is from Mazda and i plan to fit it on my EF. Has anyone fit an aftermarket reverse sensor kit on their EF's or EL's?? If so I need the mounting point locations on the rear bumper, I guess i can just use my eyesight to put it on the suitable location. I have got most of the electrical stuff sorted out but just want to know is it better wiring it up when the car is in reverse or not?? I don't know how to wire it up in reverse though. If any you guys have done a reverse sensor mod put up some pics here or any information you would like to share. I tried searching but couldn't find a thread on this.

hi
just wire the power or ever circuits that work out how far till somethings hit during reversing to one of the reversing lights see how you go, cant think of anything else other than that |

From where should i pick up the power from? The good old ciggy? or somewhere else? And do you think it will be necessary to put relay or fuse?

Why not put a relay onto the reversing lights on one side, and power from the trailer plug in the boot?
Edit: definately dont want it on all the time, in heavy traffic it would be beeping constantly. Fuse isnt necessary but just in case you can put an inline fuse holder just before the relay, 5A should be ample for reverse sensors. Edit2: Do the actual sensors need power or just the display/beeper thing? If it is just the beeper then yeah get it from behind the ciggy lighter. So, run a wire from the reverse light in the tail lights to the front of the car where the sensor is Put that onto the relay +ve from the ciggy lighter into the relay ground should be easy as to find then into the relay +ve and ground out of the relay into the sensor. Being an EF, you can run power through the big bit that comes off from the ciggy lighter, along the bottom of the instrument cluster and out the bottom of the other side, may be an easier option to just run power from the battery through the clutch or bonnet release holes in the firewall and out the bottom of the dash but it doesnt really look neat.

The reverse sensors dont need power to them. The control module just needs the power, its like a little black box. Good idea picking the trigger from the reverse lights and yeah it will be annoying when its on all the time.
So basically, All four sensor connect to the black box which would be placed either in the boot or near the back passenger seat somewhere, the beeper connects to the black box and is accompanied with a long wire so i can put it by the drivers side kick panel and i'll have to make my own power cable to the black box. I'll draw a diagram up when i have time.

Did i bit of dodo while drilling but all up not to bad of a effort from my part and thanks to guys who gave me ideas and my family members which helped me a lot. I'll describe most of the things on my build thread but ill do that some other day. Pictures.... well i didnt take any through out the process but will post up finished pics.
