Does anyone know if there were 2 different types of ignition module's for EA 3.9L MPI motors???

We are having problems with a saloon car and mechanic thinks its to do with the ignition module.

Information would be greatly appreciated :)

I should of also mensioned the problem incase somebody knows how to fix it.

When the engine is in the higher rev range the ignition timing is retarding instead of advancing.

the ignition/tfi modules from ea to el are the same..

and do you mean the ignition timing is not advancing??.. as the cam timing does not change under rpm.
anyway afaik its the ecu that controles/ changes the ignition timing... not the tfi module.
the tfi module is what ignites the coil..

Sorry Troyman, yes you are correct. The ignition timing is not advancing.

I have no idea when it comes to the engine. lol
