That title looks like a noob question but. What parts are the Holden boys running? I know they use a Ford based 9"inch diff (or is that old school v8s).
What parts are ford (designed or constructed) that holden cars use?

They dont use Ford parts exactly, but the suspension bolt locations etc are based off Ford's design.
Suspension points and wheel track & base are identical between the two models now under project blueprint. I think the VE V8SC actually needed to be cut & shut to lengthen the body to suit the required wheelbase. |

All I know is the diff is based on the ford 9" design. Virtually a Harrop carrier fitted with some fancy axle tubes that are (according to wikipedia) made to EL Falcon dimensions and feature standard EL Falcon mounting points. Front suspension is the double wishbone stuff that falcons have been running from XK to BF. Having said that, there is talk of the cars running IRS for next year. Holden brought some IRS carriers to Bathurst this year but opted not to run them (I wonder if its the control blade system from the Falcon or the axle tramp prone system from the commodore).
Since Holden switched to McPherson Strut with the introduction of the commodore you can pencil the front suspension as being a ford design feature as well. The Aurora Engine that the Holden uses comes from the Cadillac family (offered in V6 FWD and V8 RWD configurations) The VE was cut and shut to SHRINK it down to BA/BF dimensions. Now that the FG is bigger than the BA/BF It too has been cut and shut to SHRINK it down to and already SHRUNK VE dimensions. Pretty stupid if you ask me. That's all I know. |

This reminds me of a good joke, What is a Holden without the Chevy engine, Top loader gearbox and Nine inch ? The same piece off s***t it always was. I'm not a holden hater more a Ford lover and this always makes me smile.
