Hello, i was looking in the modifications section on the ef/el about how to put climate control into my Gli EL, it tells me at the top you do not have to pull the airbox out of the car to do the conversion, BUT when i ventured out to the wreckers to get all of the parts i found i could not get the blend door motor off the top of the airbox because of a metal brace running along the top of it.

If anyone has done this conversion on thier EL could you please tell me how to get around the problem. Any help would be GREAT!! I would love to put this in my car.

I didnt think it was possible to just bolt the CC gear onto a manual vent box.

From memory the ED and EL box's are the same in thier design.

You cannot perform this mod with a manual airbox. The acuator for the blend door is completely different on each and is not convertible.
Even if it was, good luck getting the blend door motor onto the correct position and lined up with the blend door vane with the box in-situ in the car.

Trust me........this mod is really easy if you can source a complete fairmont or fairmont ghia dash incl loom and all components and airbox. If you can't do this and still want to perform the conversion, I think you should seriously consider pre-booking yourself into a mental asylum.
