Hi, I would like to change one rear door and both front doors on an EF sedan, i'm not sure if this is too difficult and maybe should be left for a panel beater. Would appreciate any tips on the best method to fit them.

thanks Glenn.

Is just remove and re-install you want to do?

If so, all you need to do is have the doors wide open. There is a little bolt that goes into the side of the hinge horizontally. I think it is an 8mm head. Remove that.
Next undo the bolt that holds the middle hinge. The doors simply lift up and the two hinge halves will separate.
You will need to unclip the wiring harnesses as well.

Install is simply the reverse.

Ok all done thanks, but the doors dont want to lift off the hinge, any suggestions how to seperate them?

open the door completely and lift up, alot easier with two people, needs to be straight up.

ok all four doors have now been replaced with compliments of a donor el xr in cobalt. the front doors only just touch the guards when being opened and closed, would it be easier moving both guards forward a couple of mill or remove the door and adjust the hinge?

Rear doors can be closed but hit the striker and in doing so lift the door a couple of mill, likewise with the front doors would it be better to adjust the striker or the hinges?

Rear doors - I've just moved the striker to suit the perfect door position. I think this is suitable as not all doors would have the latch mechanism installed within 0.5mm of each other when measured from the hinges... In other words - Even in Uncle Henry's best facilities things can be produced the same, but end up slightly different.

I think that would be why they make the striker able to be adjusted in the first place? If you check cars directly from factory I'd guess the strikers are all over the show... (A mm here or there anyway...)

Simo, with the front doors removed i adjusted the upper and lower hinges, just moved them back a mil or 2 and all is fine. make sure you move the upper and lowers equal lengths.

hope this helps glenn.
