This is on your EA? I only ask as people get new cars and don't change their 'ride' details. If it's a BA/BF that's normal, as there is a stepper motor controlling the butterfly and do tend to make a bit of a humming noise. But if it IS the EA, could possibly be a d**k ISC valve?

good spotting its for my el, i will update that now.. so the isc could be the issue, ill make a dummy gasket and see if thats the issue though it idles perfectly but that would be the most obvious issue.. thanks for the reply

I've heard high pitched humming noises coming from EF/EL ISC motors before, because of the way the ECU runs them. Its kind of like that humming noise you get from street transformers or the high tension power lines.
Didn't seem to stop them working properly or anything, but it did happen every now and then. Taking the intake off the T/B might just make the thing echo and seem louder than it actually is. |
