has anyone with an EF experienced any radiator hose problems in the past? the radiator hose in my EF has burst off twice now spilling coolant everywhere and of course overheating the engine. I just wanted to see if this is a common problem for EFs or if anyone could give me advice on how to prevent it, I'm thinking that it's just that the hose clamp wobbles loose over time

Hmmm, if its the clamp then pretty easy fix....

Might suggest that the radiator is blocked tho and causing a massive pressure build up.

not sure what hose youre talking about but do you re-tighten the hose clamps after the engine is hot?

Yeah the engine overheats, and then I re-trighten the clamp. Its the hose at the top coming from the radiator. Also, I tried to empty the water that I put in on the spot to replace it with coolant, but I couldn't get the damn clamp off on the hose at the bottom of the radiator! do all EFs come with a wierd hose clamp attachment at that particular hose? I couldn't exactly see what kind it was, but I know it isn't the convential screw driver fitting, I could only feel it, and it was a kind of rubbery head, that was of course after hours of trying to get at it with a flathead screw driver!

that little thing on the hose clamp is just a cover and u can pry it off with a fine flat head srewdriver.
how old is your thermostat, only abt $25 for new one.
give everythin a good reverse flush before puttin new coolant in.
might be ur radiator blocked if its over heatin.

what that cap is its a kind of socket that sheers off when tightened to a specified torque. the bottom hose is hard to get too, you either need a very long screwdriver or 6mm socket with a long extension, a uni joint on the socket helps alot.

Gez thats damn unlucky. I just did my hoses up all random like n left em there. Tight as i could make them, no water gets out at all. I check it prolly twice a week n i watch the temp while i drive but it never loses any coolant. For some reason my radiator was replaced in 2001 (sticker on the top has the date on it along with model number n a few other random things), before i got the car. Guess i wont need to worry about it for a while.

something that sheers off when it's tightened correctly.... how the hell do you undo such a thing? ... and, why in the world would such a thing be fitted to a radiator hose clamp :roll: you got to be joking
